I got bored in my stained glass and was asking my teacher about more advanced ways to play with the glass. Lo and behold, he takes me to the back room where there is a sand blasting machine, exactly like the glass beader i used while working in a machine and welding shop. I decided to try my hand at blown etching, which isnt too difficult, but takes some patience and the right tools. I used painters tape on the glass and cut out the design i wanted to appear. It came out pretty well as you can see. Though painters tape isnt quite strong enough to stay fully adhered during the process so you can see where it lifted a bit is snowy looking and where it stuck well, the glass is clean. I learned quick and did well with the other etchings i did that ill post later.
