... So last night I got all nostalgic for the old days and decided to take a stab at what is possibly an adoptable monster template! Granted, said template was really more like just a 'starting' value/feature/detail map for the species and I paint on top of it all manually like every other portrait, BUT HEY, WHATEVS. I needed some stress-venty catharsis today and didn't have a commission to chew on, so this guy happened. I'm not really sure if he's up for sale (for the time I put in, I might say about 15-20 bucks on these premade guys? They'll all have individually painted traits and patterns), but at the very least, he's an example of the thing I have now.

I'm calling 'em Fu Fenids for now, for lack of anything better. They're somewhere between a fu dog, lion, and oni... thing, though I imagine they're probably more of a companion animal/guard beastie than anything. The rest is beyond me. I was just smushing paint around my canvas last night and they happened.

The nasal bone (babirousa!) tusks are their one 'standard' trait, though those could be any number of lengths, and their head horns can vary from little nubbins to big absurd racks. I think I may have a lot of fun using these as a way to get out my color/pattern design itches.
