Yay Rasberry Pi. How I want one. Just wish it had a SATA adapter. Thats the ONLY thing really holding me back. That and money.

well you can run from a usb drive, but it wont boot from anything other than a sd card.

Exactly the issue. I really wish it had a SATA controller on it so you could have a case that held a laptop size drive to it so it could be easily portable as a miniature HTPC without having a USB HDD having to dangle from it.

I've been jealous and coveting the use of such a neat little system. Though I own no huge TV, have no need for portability and have a Dekstop I can watch my TV on anyways.

Maybe one day I'll have the need for such a spiffy rig! Yours looks snazzy indeed, hoppertail!

its a 17" lcd from a old hp laptop, the controller is one I got off ebay. told them the numbers off the lcd and thats what they sent me, hdmi/dvi/vga inputs

Hmm I have some friends with old laptops that I could get screens from. Did you have to do much work to sort out the pin outs for the LVDS cabling?

I just emailed the person on the ebay auction, told them the lcd part number and manuf, and they told me they had a kit for it. so I ordered said kit, sent message with part number, and waited 2 weeks..

plugged it together and it works :)

Whats that OS you're uisng? Recently got the Pi myself but the OS has the menu on the top of the screen. I have seen this one but I cannot find it, it would feel more familiar to me.

dont have the pi anymore but from what I remember it was raspbian
