A Green Dragon receives tribute from the Aztecs in the Valley of Mexico. The Aztecs saw the Green Dragons as the offspring of their god, Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent and treated them as living gods, bringing them lavish tributes. Most of the time the tribute consisted of fruit and small jewelry and other ornaments for the dragon's hoard though in some special occasions they offered a human in a ritual sacrifice where the dragon would consume the heart.
All this ended when the Spaniard Cortés and his conquistadors showed up, their Christian ideology saw these dragons as evil servants of the devil and they eagerly killed any Green Dragon they came across, mostly to pillage it's hoard for gold and drag it all back to Spain. The last Green dragons were said to be slain at the Siege of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital but some might have survived and now wander the ruins of this civilization in the trackless jungles.
