This is nice! I remember many trips to the ocean (Gulf of Mexico, really) as a kid, but only once did I visit an area where there were rocky pools such as this. And I distinctly remember my interest in seeing real, live sea creatures up close and personal. You captured that distant day with great skill. Thank you for sharing!

I love the narrow focus of the little fellow in the story. It is nice to be able to get lost in the little things and let the greater world take care of itself for a while. Thank you for sharing such a nice story.

Yup, it's pretty good! It's a small little world to have so many varied inhabitants...a lot of stories I've seen seem to have gigantic cities with all of two inhabitants in them.

This piece soars in giving us a little scene filtered through a child's reasoning. :) Excellent work, I particularly liked his troubles with the starfish.

Thanks bunches for the comments. That starfish...yeah I'd forgotten I'd done that. It's kind of like an early childhood memory of mine where I stood at the window at night watching stars seeing if I could spot one of them as they started to fall and become a 'shooting star' I'd heard so much about. Oh kids and their simple misunderstandings...

The ability to capture those misunderstandings is what fills works like this with so much charm. ^v^ And yeah, I'm way behind, but not as bad as Metassus! ;D

So cute. Who could become offended by this? Just a little boy who is very amused by the creatures caught in a pond. Absolutely charming, I really liked the sentence:

"Only the starfish seemed indifferent."

Timothy's observation of the starfish's personality is just charming. Great piece, I really enjoyed reading this, I really felt and lived with the tale as I read the short story.

I really liked how you built up the anticipation of the water reaching the pool. For a moment, I thought something bad was going to happen. It was very well written, and I could almost envision myself there, crouching down with my chest resting on my thighs.
