As the nights grow long, strange shadows dance in the firelight. Things go bump in the night, a chill goes through your body for no discernible reason. The spirits are all around, and many grow restless. For the most part, they can't harm you, unable to fully breach the gateway between the spirit world and ours. But some spirits find a way, wreaking havoc or harming the living. That's where Thomas Ross steps in, wielding his flute, a spirit fetish that offers both as a guard and a weapon against spirit-creatures. He can see the spirits all around him clearly, and there seems to be at least one trickster god -- perhaps even Old Man Coyote himself -- that he has the favor of, even though the dream trance to speak with such a spirit is exhausting.
When Thomas can't find jobs, he drifts, using his wile and charm where he can. His silver tongue is very capable of getting him out of trouble, but his penchant for sticking his nose into dangerous things often means he gets back into it. It doesn't help that he's lecherous, finding it hard to control himself around a very attractive woman. Even with his silver tongue, his cheeks having stung more than once from such a weakness.
