I went on a bit of a ramble, and since I hadn't been there in decades I went to what was once the city zoo - when both the city and me were a lot smaller. The more exotic animals long ago went to the new and much larger zoo, and the site of old zoo is now a "farm" in the sense that all the animals there are now what you'd find on a farm. It does give city kids a chance to see the animals that you don't see in the city much anymore.
As you might expect, most of the animals have been sent to winter quarters, so this horse, some goats, sheep and pigs were all that were there. At least I assume that there are more - have to go back during the summer sometime.
So, here's one of the horses, looking a little shaggy in his winter coat, seemed pretty uninterested in the few visitors, much more interested in his supper.

When I saw the "Thumbnail" of this image I was reminded of the works of my FA contemporary Victor Wren. His specialty is painting realistic images of horses, and he has a fondness for the larger, Draft Breeds. Despite the chilly surroundings I get the impression this big fellow doesn't mind the cold.
