I honestly gave all I could to this piece but it still looks unfinished wrryyyy!? I have to confess - I SUCK at colour and even more than colour I suck at light/shadow(in colour. I can do b&w shading tho) but I can't say I'm not all too unhappy how this came out.. I might fiddle around with this more if I'm not too busy with other colouring projects(still 23 pictures to go!) He became exactly how I wanted: plump and juicy so I won't complain annnnd the colour scene is perfect for my taste.
This is probably the best viewed with dark monitor.

Infected mushroom is great. I also listen to the bearded faces of Amon Amarth to get me into the groove. I like the colours you used, but your frustration with it looking 'unfinished' is because you need a bit more contrast! For me the shadows come, then the highlights are the icing on the cake. Use layers if you are colouring digitally, and lay down areas of darker tones, erasing out edges or softening them.
Then j000 get to the highlights, with which you establish a light source! Right now the light source looks like it's coming from the top-right, go with it! :3
