What a lucky break, to think this hopper still has Penn Central lettering on it even after the CR lettering was blanked out. Where was this taken at? I'm a railfan and model in O gage and have PC on my RR, the CA&P, Chicago Atlantic & Pacific made up from PC & CR. Photos are posted on FA done a while back.

It was taken in Ridgfield park or bagota nj area. I don't know where the towns begin or end I also gotta picture of the back side that I will upload soon.

I ment to say it would have been nice to see a train pulled by penn central locomotive nd a few railcars and maybe even a caboose.

You should read the books "No way to run a railroad", "The men who loved trains" and The "Wreck of the Penn Central", it gives you a really good insight into what really caused the PC to go belly-up. It would of been interesting to see what would of become of the PC RR nowadays with all the other RR mergers. NS did a wonderful job of painting a bunch of SD-70Ace's in NYC, PRR and PC as well as other heritage RR's that all became part of NS.

Have you seen the movie about penn central trying to get federal funding before bankruptcy.

No, I never heard there was a movie about it, what's it called? I'd be interested in seeing it. I know there's a movie about the bank collaspe that happened in 2008 called "To big to fail". It's about Fanny May and Freddy Mac.
