In high school we did a Bernstein piece, it was the first time we encountered ledger lines above the staff, and being young and dumb we PUSHED OH MY GOD SO HARD INTO OUR HORNS TO GET THAT HIGH B! I did, and once we were done I felt my lips and saw blood on my hand. :D

That's happened, though not because of any instrument, heh.
That's a passionate performance if I've ever heard of one! Blood stirring, even. Did you have to clean the blood out of your horn too? I always see hornists cleaning out saliva, so... I was wondering, heh.

Thankfully no, there were just a few droplets of blood. XD
That's actually condensation we're emptying out, warm wet air, cold brass, water forms inside the instrument. There was one odd case in high school that red liquid came out of the horn I was using! My friend later confessed to drinking a red slushy drink while practicing on the same horn beforehand.
