Today I introduce a creature I made up but never drew until now, the Zakretian (Zak-ree-shen), the predecessors of the Autozakretian. Zakretians are reptilian in appearance, the females, although smaller than the males, have much larger tails and antennae, Zakretians were at first very peaceful and at one with the world they lived on.

Zakretians are extinct, now, since the rise and now long fall of the Autozakretians.

For whatever reason, Zakretians went from primitive to incredibly advanced in only a century. The Autozakretians were the result of the Zakretians being blinded by their own superior technology, they wanted to be faster, stronger, better; practically wanted to be their own gods. They thought it could be done by modifying, engineering themselves to become almost unliving; they managed to become almost completely cybernetic, they gave themselves the ability to shapeshift, become whatever they want, they made themselves superior to any other being in the universe.

Unfortunately, this came with a price, a huge price, once converted, an Autozakretian lost their ability to reproduce, and they also developed a god complex that led to the extinction of their predecessors, genocide by their own kind, forced to be converted to Autozakretian, or killed in cold blood, for being inferior to the new and improved.

Many years later, the Autos discovered that they can't live forever, a lifespan of 2000-2500 years as opposed to 150-200 years a Zakretian would live, they didn't see this coming, and thus the Autos are slowly heading towards an inevitable extinction. They cannot reproduce, they cannot 'transfer' their 'souls' into new bodies, they are forever trapped in their slowly dying metal shells.

There is no hope for the Autozakretian race, but the Zakretians... a refuge, deep in the emptiness of space has been discovered, centuries after their thought extinction.
