As some of you may or may not know, 2007 was a big year for the Disney cartoon studios. It marked the 70th anniversary of the release of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (the first animated feature produced by Walt Disney), and the 40th anniversary of the release of "The Jungle Book" (the last animated feature under Disney's supervision).
What many of you probably didn't recall was that 2007 was also the 30th anniversary of the release of "Pete's Dragon" - the last live action/animated musical feature from said studio (until the hit film "Enchanted" came along recently). No doubt, many of you 'fat fauna' fanatics went to see the film (or bought the VHS tape or DVD version), for the pleasure of viewing the antics of the title character 'Elliott' the dragon...
In one scene from the film, 'Pete' (the young boy who befriends 'Elliott' - even though nobody else can see him), plays a game of Tic-Tac-Toe, using a stick charred at one end (by the dragon's fire), and drawing the grid and the Xs and Os on the dragon's broad belly...
Inspired by this scene, I kicked the game-playing idea up a notch, by creating a lettered sudoku puzzle, and drawing the grid and letters on the massive midsection of Dragomike!
Incidentally, the sudoku IS playable! Like the numerical version, every row, column and 3x3 grid MUST contain all nine different letters, without repeating. Furthermore, one of the rows or columns spells out Dragomike's name properly!
So, don't just stare at your computer... Print out a 'hard copy' of this picture, grab a pencil (with a good eraser on it), and start solving! ;)
(P.S. If you cannot print out the sudoku, get some scrap paper, draw the whole thing out in pen, and then solve the puzzle in pencil!)

Don't be ashamed. I had difficulty trying to solve the numerical versions, when this fad first materialized a few years ago. The alphabetical version of sudoku is simply a variation on the same theme (and it really IS playable). If you need the answer to this illustrated puzzle, let me know and I'll E-mail it to you.
