Rex is an interesting gene. If a rat has it from one parent, you get rex, if they have 2 genes for it, you get double rex- aka "hairless". Sphinx rats are true hairless but also very rare. Double rexes can have patches of peach fuzz that comes and goes every time they shed and regrow their coats.
