While this could be alongside the more spiritual line of magic, the dark and gruesome appearence of this ritual can just as easily produce the thoughts of necromancy by an outsiders view. No true knowledge on such things can be completely known without thourough knwoledge of the matter performed without being at the site, as such, it does add a mystery as what magic is being performed to the wonder "wow, magic, cool" that a lesser mind would consider.
