Commissioned digital painting for the upcoming Fur-eh! It's a Canadian convention which will be held May 3-5th in Edmonton, Alberta! More info: http://fureh.ca/
I'm pretty sure this is my first time drawing a car (or at least as far as I can remember). Reference made it not too horrible of an experience, thankfully! I've always been averse to drawing machinery, but the infinite undos and do-overs digital mediums offer make it a lot easier.
The pose is based on a (badass) Skyfall promotional picture, though pretty much everything aside from the arm/hand position and the general cropping of the piece is unrecognizable.

Hnnnnnng. Love Classic American Muscle. Corvette was always my favorite from the late 60's and early-mid 70's era, though (And remains my favorite for most of the past 60 years of car styling and performance), but a 68' Shelby Mustang Cobra, with a, well, mustang anthro, is just poetic.
Absolutely! I'm a mustang sort of gal myself, but I like pretty much any muscle car, especially the older models! The character's a friesian horse by the way (he's got little arm feathering, hehe) but it's really hard to make horse species look distinctive unless you go into the full draft types or arabians.
You did a really good job on the car, especially for the first time. I have a 1967 Mustang posted here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9440000/ The body and the roofline are nearly identical. The Shelby has a vinyl roof of course. The only thing that I noticed that doesn't look quite natural is that he's getting out of the passenger side of the car. Still quite a nice picture BTW.
Haha, omg, of course! I actually didn't even think about that since my orifinal ref for the idea was a british car, I just went with the pose as it was. I don't think it matters too much through, since you don't actually see him stepping out of that seat for sure, he's just posing. Would be easy to flip and fix the cobra symbols cirection if it weren't for other design work I already did on this painting not shown here.
And nice car! :D
And nice car! :D
Aha, now the pic makes sense XD. Him stepping out of that side, with no character on the "driver's side" just didn't make sense lol. I did look for steering wheel placement since I have friends in many countries, but I can't tell exactly what side its on.
This is excellent work though. If you liked drawing cars, I would be very tempted to commission you (if possible) for a classic car commission like this. Showing the full car, of course ;)

Oh the many good things to say about such a wonderful work, a lot already said I see...
Great work and attention on shape of that car. I'm glad it was not the normal "fire-sale red" that many people picture a muscle car as. The green is really brought out from that wonderful ongoing field of wheat. The road adds a nice stripe of interest and makes it that much more realistic, looks like Saskatchewan? The subject character is also wonderful, granted I'm bias on the species, he's handsome and reminds me of being in the south - always a crisp white t-shirt.
Lovely work, wall material.
