king max was sitting in his throneroom, a look of worry plastered on his face. the weather was like a nightmare. it rain constantly, thunder boomed across the sky as if a cannon was fired. max was lost in his own mind. a war had started, it was with a highly evolved race of wanders called humans. max hoped that it wouldn't have had to come to war, but it had and it was one of the many things max knew he would regret. a small creek from the door broke max from his thoughts. standing in the doorway was a small skunk, a bout four years old. "oops!! sorry for bothering you, king max" said geoffrey st john. "i was just looking for my daddy." "it ok geoffrey, i was just think about things. come here." said max, tapping his lap softly. geoffrey slowly made his way over to the king and took his hand as he was helped into the king's lap. "so, wheres daddy?" asked geoffrey, his face of curiosity. "well, your daddy is on a very important mission for me" said max. "what is it?" "well you know elias?"
"he you son!!!" yelled geoffrey, as if he only knew the answer. max smiled at him. he had the same traints of all boys his age. max was so happy that he would soon have the same problem when elias turn his age. elias was just a year old, but max loved him more than anything else in his life. " well due to the war, elias and queen alicia have to be moved somewhere safe for the meantime and your daddy is takeing the there because he is the best man for the job." said max, hope and pride in his voice. "I know, hes the best pilot ever and whe he comes back he doing to prove it!!!" yelled the over-exited skunk. max smiled at the hyper skunk and slowly rose, the young boy skunk jumping off as he did. "now then, i think its time for you to go to bed." said king max, trying to be as convincing as he could be. "but i don't wanna go to bed!!!" yelled the skunk as king max picked him up and placed him on the chair, then placeing a pillow behind his head and placeing his cape around the protesting youngster. but soon the skunk tired himself out and was fast asleep. max quietly left the room as not to wake the child. he was about to retire to his own bed when he hear a faint noise coming from the great hall. max made his way to the great hall when he recognised the sound as that of wheeping and the roar of a lit fireplace. he pushed open the heavey doors and peered into the supposedly empty room. standing before the flames of the fireplace was loki, but it was not the same mysterious man max had meet before. he looked devoid of happyness and looked more filled with grief. max quietly made his way to loki, when loki suddenly turned around and face max. he was still the mask he wore when they first meet, but to max's horror he had something even max knew was a not a good omen. in loki's hands was the medallion that he had given ian the day geoffrey was born. max never knew what had happend to it after that day, but max knew something was wrong if loki had it. loki slowly made his way towards max, his gaze never leaving maxs. as he stood in front of max, he stated only five words before leaving max in a state of pain, sorrow and the knowledge that by the next morning both his and someone else's life would be changed forever, but for max it would be the greatest loss he would suffer during the war and he knew that his losses would be nothing compared to what the other person would suffer. that person would now be left alone in the world, his whole world gone in a flash. the words where " I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." and it made max's worst fear come to life. the entire crew of the ship carrying his wife and son had crased and there was no sign of any survivors, not even ian st john or his family.
