Chapter 2
When I finally came to I realized that all of my sisters were surrounding me. They kept muttering things to themselves like “Is she dead?” and “Is she okay?” As I slowly picked up my head they started nuzzling against me and asking if I was alright, except Eveline. She stood behind them, shaking her head. Eveline had then pushed her way through the others once I was able to get up, cuffing me over the ear with her paw.
“Owe!” I yelped and rubbed my ear, “What the hell was that for?!”
“For being a dumbass! You know not to get too close when they’re kicking!”
“Well sorry for stepping left when I should’ve ste—”
“No one cares, Water Wuf.” Eveline snarled in my face and laid her ears back tight against her skull.
“Don’t you dare interrupt me while I’m talking.” My head raised high as I puffed my chest out slightly. “Besides, I’m not afraid of you.”
Eveline was about to lunge at me but was stopped by a deep, “Ahem.” We turned around to see what must have apparently been the mystery figure. Our mouths dropped slightly as we realized it was a male wolf. His fur is a snowy white and his eyes a bright yellow. He has royal blue markings on his body that looks like a mask over his eyes, blue in his inner ear, tip of tail, and completely wraps around his legs, sides, and arms. His paw pads and nails are also a reddish-pink. It was quite peculiar at the time.
We stood in disbelief; no male in our clan would have helped me or talked to us. There was something quite different about this male. For one, it did not appear as if he belonged to a pack and was a lone wolf. Also, he must not be from our clan otherwise he would be either very shy or scared.
The male let out a slight chuckle, wagging his tail as he said, “There’s no need for fighting, ladies. Accidents happen.”
Gold approached the male and cocked her head to the side. “Who are you?”
His eyes were so gentle and friendly as he spoke, “I’m Glacier. And I do believe you ladies are in my territory.” There was no doubt in my mind that his name was due to the color of his fur.
I pushed Golda back slightly and stood nose to nose with the stranger. “I don’t know who you think you are, but this is not your territory. We’ve been hunting here for years.”
“In the forest?”
I looked confused for a moment. “No…the meadow…”
“Well there’s the misunderstanding. This forest is my territory. It’s at the very edge of…MacDon clan territory?” Glacier’s voice was slightly playful as he spoke.
I took a few steps back, wriggling my nose in discontent. “Yes that’s our clan. But who’s the one who chose to help me?”
“Who’s the one that tumbled through here?” He raised his eyebrow and chuckled.
Raven walked up to me and put her hand on my shoulder. “Come on, Wuf. Let’s head back. It’s almost sundown.”
I sighed softly and followed my sisters towards the edge of the forest. Glacier ran up behind me and said, “Wait a sec. Could I talk to you, miss?” I motioned for my sisters to go ahead and that I would meet up with them.
“What is it?” I said as I turned to talk to him.
“You never told me your name.” He smiled warmly at me, his eyes reflecting the sunlight that peeked through the canopy.
“I’m Water Wuf.”
He nodded slightly and sat down. “Be careful, okay? Your sisters don’t need you getting hurt more.”
I giggled slightly and shook my head, looking at the ground. “Yea, that wouldn’t be smart in the least bit.” Bidding him good-bye with a nod of my head I turned and ran off to meet up with my sisters.
Glacier simply smiled and disappeared into the depths of his territory. Somewhere in the back of my mind was the hope of being able to see the male again.

The sun was setting upon the horizon, making shades of yellow, pink, and orange dance across the sky with pink clouds and a red sun. We had returned to our den soon after we had left the hunting grounds. When we got inside we realized that it was ransacked. Pelts were thrown about carelessly and bones lay broken near the stone walls. Each of us ran to our belongings, trying to put them back in order.
I slowly walked over to my side of the den with my pelts in my maw. Dropping my pelts on the floor I noticed something sparkling in the mass. My nose dug into the furry pile until I found a toy that my mother had given me. It was a small, stuffed mermaid-wolf made that was similar to what my sisters had, but theirs represented their different element. I flopped on the floor, laying the toy on my paws. But I noticed there was something around its neck. As I moved it I realized it was a necklace, a small blue orb with wave markings carved into it being held up by a string. My sisters noticed they had similar necklaces on their toys as well. Apparently, each of the toys and necklaces corresponded with our different elements. When we put them around our necks they began to glow. Power coursed through our veins, making our fur fluff up slightly. They must have been what the intruder was looking for. At the time we did not know why and how they would affect us.
Soon after the necklaces started glowing they stopped. We looked at each other with looks of pure confusion upon our faces.
“What…the hell…just happened…” Kai said, breaking the silence.
“I have no idea…” I shook my head before inspecting my necklace. “Strange…very strange indeed…”
