We use clips because there was a large demand for clip-on tails, which no one else does. People were requesting a tail that is easy to put on and take off without having to remove your entire belt every time. And these clips are stronger than you think. They stay on through quite a bit of use. The binder clips look tacky, yes. But it's literally all we can afford right now. When we can afford the several thousand dollars to have custom parts manufactured, then we will make the switch to better looking clips. We will eventually do tails with belt loops too, but for now, we are going the clip-on route.
No, we are having special clips made, and we have to buy them in large quantities to make them worth the price. We try to invest only in USA goods and services, instead of manufacturing overseas, which isn't helpful to my economy at all. So if I were to invest in US made, custom moulded plastic and metal pats, in quantities of thousands, then yes it will be quite expensive. Way too much for us to take on right now. We actually haven't had much complaint about the clips until recently.
We will look into using snaps as an alternative, until we can afford to have our new clips made. Thanks for the suggestion :)
