Just because the church made the holidays correlate with the holidays of the time did not make them less significant to those who celebrate them.
This was done so that pagans (the masses of the time) could relate to the Christians and still feel some connection to their old way of life. A very good conversion practice.
Now, agree or disagree. It was very rude for you to post this on the art piece of a person that this holiday has great meaning to. We all have different beliefs and feelings and no one should be ostracized for their beliefs regardless of how you feel about them.

Having dissent is one thing, but having no regard for your fellow man is even worse. I mean, you're entitled to worship and believe in what you want, the way you want. However, there's something called, "Common decency" where, just in case you've forgotten, if you don't have anything nice to say, keep your bloody comments to yourself.
It'd be one thing if she was blantingly insulting the Pagan holiday with a risque Christian work, but she wasn't so what makes you think you have the right to flaunt your negative opinion on here, on this piece.
If you're seriously so butthurt about someone correcting your knowledge on a Christian holiday then go type it up on Livejournal or make a V-Blog about it where people actually give a shit about what you're saying and will mindlessly agree to every word you've written.

No, that you said that I think you're unsaveable cuz you express dissent. You can have a different view all you want and I won't say anything to you otherwise. Heck, everyone has different views I have different views that i'm not expressing here cuz it's nobody's business. But that doesn't mean we tear other people down for them.
Well, more so the reasoning as to why they (Christians, though it really was more of the Catholics doing than the Protestants) placed the holidays at certain points of the year.
Though, my comment still remains valid. You're defacing someone's religious right of expression when there's nothing offensive here to get all sarcastic about.
Common decency. Use it.
