An old back road, and with a pretty spectacular overgrown hedgerow along it! This looked to be almost completely intact which is a rare thing considering barbed wire replaced hedgerows in the United States over a hundred years ago. Of course this would have originally been about four feet high. Though today the trees are so closely spaced it could still almost serve as a fence!

These are disappearing rapidly from the United States because, in fact, very few people even know what they are and that they exist. And its a real shame considering all the effort it took to plant and maintain these things and what a benefit they are to both farms and wildlife.
