Hello everybody! This will be an ongoing project that I've been sitting on for the last few weeks/months. The Forge Concept is basically a place for artists to gather to share their passions.
At this point in time, I'm targeting artists who are less well-known and artists with potential and the passion for their work. Feel free to head over to our page and give it a like if you want! At this moment however, only a select few will be allowed to post their art, the reason being... well, honestly, it's because I'm still learning the ropes.
Here's a description of the project, it's long, so don't start reading if you don't have time!
Q:
Why did you start this group?
A:
There's only so much that one person can do. I've noticed during my time struggling to get seen, that there are many artists out there who've not gotten much attention even though they have potential. Because of that, they feel that they're not good enough, or that their art does not matter. Many give up. The ones who don't, keep struggling to get noticed, receiving one comment every few days - sometimes not even.
Many art sites have artists that are already "established" these artists draw attention from the audience onto them because they're already that good. Is it their fault for being so good? Heck no.
So what does this spell for the lesser known artists?
This group won't be all about the art. It will be about the passion, it will be for the people who want to learn, who want to see, and who can appreciate art and potential.
But in the end, the bare truth of it all, the very reason why I started this group is because I do not want to see another person struggle the way I did. I do not want another person to fall to the wiles of other people saying that they are not "able" and that they'll never be known. I want it to be known that there is hope.
Q:
Why "The Forge Concept"?
A:
Artists create - they create fantastical creatures, worlds where there are two suns, two moons, floating cities, falling skies, crumbling planets, dying worlds, female transformers and heavenly palaces. They tell a story through their works, all patiently crafted and formed to the way they want it to be.
To that, I've always envisioned art to be very much like blacksmithing.
Q:
What do I need to do to get in?
A:
At this point I'm still testing the waters, garnering the views from the artists and figuring out where to move from here. You don't really need to be an artist to be a part of this group, as long as you're passionate about art, and like what the artists do, then feel free to join us!
Q:
What do I need to do once I'm a part of the group?
A:
Nothing. You're not obligated to do -anything-. I could lay down laws that say "you must comment on people's art" or something, but what's the point in that? I believe that for this to work, freedom must be given. I'd like it very much for everyone to comment on each other's work. After all, we thrive on receiving comments from other people. Nothing beats working on a piece for five to six hours straight, posting it online and to have someone come up and say "Hey you know what, this is a -really- nice looking piece of work! Good job!".
Contrary to popular belief, artists are not hermits. Neither are we crabs for that matter.
Q:
Will there be any events going on?
A:
Right now, there won't be any events going on. Depending on the reception, I might hold a "prompt" once a month. Basically I'd give a subject, be it a word, a sentence, or a piece of music, and the artists would then craft their perception of the given prompt. It's not going to be an obligation of course, but for artists who lack the motivation or the direction to practice their art, it would be a good place to start.
Q:
Plans for the future?
A:
I aim to open other groups catering to the other forms of art, mainly writers and independent musicians trying to make their way around. It's not a really well formed idea, I'll admit - but I'm more focused on making The Forge work first before anything else.
Thank you, truly, for your time.
See you on the other side!

A damn nice, and clean logo, I must say..
As for the concept, I would be interested in joining this group of yours.. I'd say it is honourable that you've gone out of your way to create this concept so that other artist don't have to go through a great amount of struggling...
And as for your analogy, Blacksmithing, and metal working, Is an art form anyway, so.. heh..
