*WHEW*....
This project originally started as a spur-of-the-moment challenge by a prompt somebody posted to Facebook:
1.) Pick 3 ponies (doesn't matter which ones).
2.) Pick the last song you listened to.
3.) Imagine the song as the background theme to a zombie apocalypse scene, with your three choices being the survivors.
4.) Choose a BACKGROUND pony to be the leader of the zomblers.
5.) Depict the epic fight scene on paper!!
My three choices were obviously Luna, Twilight, and Fluttershy (chosen at random without actually reading what they were going to be doing), and then Derpy as the Zombie Leader. I don't know who made the challenge, but either they were a prodigy or had absolutely no idea how long this would actually take; my last SONGS listened to were:
"Malice Tongues" -by- Of An Empire (Princess Luna)
"Pre-Hibernation (Instrumental)" -by- Pantera (Twilight)
"Shade" -by- Heart of a Coward (Fluttershy)
"Entrapment" -by- Seize The Prophet (Derpy, Zombponies)
There is no way you can do this challenge listening to only ONE theme song for like 9 hours straight, especially with the three personalities I picked. Even so, I'm actually very glad I made myself stick with Fluttershy despite her total incompatibility with the situation. Perhaps it was just me wanting to see what she looked like with a giant machine gun (a curiosity that usually motivates me to draw). Luna, being from the middle ages, obviously doesn't need a gun; even so, pure disintegration beams of magical energy are the reason everybody is so intimidated by the presence of a Princess of Equestria!!
As hard as this challenge was, it totally felt like it was worth it. Luna must have been bored or something, because she gave me little to no trouble drawing her, and Twilight/Fluttershy to lesser extents. By the time I got to Derpy and the two other zombies though, even my endurance had cratered out (and it shows).

Well now that it's done, I must say: NEVER AGAIN!! I'll never do something so stupid as to accept a spur-of-the-moment challenge in my life again; it took me close to 8 straight hours of work to finish the art and digital editing of this photo, and it hasn't even been colored yet. Even so, I think the effort was worth it because all 3 of them came out looking far better than I originally intended, even though the image my mind came up with is still a hundred times better than what I actually ended up with.
In my excitement, I messed around and drew each character a little too large, so this panoramic image is the result of 4 different pages digitally stitched together and edited for aesthetics. You can still notice the few places I screwed up beyond my own rudimentary editing know-how's ability to fix stuff (IE: Derpy).
Mediums: .07mm mechanical pencil, copy paper
Time Elapsed: God knows; too long
(Note: So much time went into the creation of this drawing that I think I'll follow through with my original idea of posting a brief one-of fanfic to go with it; too much is here to waste!! :D )
