So! This is my pony character, blacksmith. Her name and talent are pretty self explanatory, but here it goes. She can smith metal. By putting metal shoes on, she would pound out the metal and make armor and weapons.

One day she brought her hoof down at the wrong angle and it cracked, leaving her crippled.

SHE CAN NOT PUT WEIGHT ON HER CRACKED HOOF.

So, because she can no longer smith, she's fallen into a deep depression.
