WIP - Flash Gordon Lizard Woman figure repaint
Well, I have made this try at getting a show-accurate Lizard Woman from the weirdly colored (see on the left) 1980-or-so New Adventures of Flash Gordon figure about a year ago...
I got some lizzies on Ebay for cheap (they can go for quite a high price, sadly) - and since one of them lacked her rubbery tail (careless owner or someone experimenting with lizard tail regrowth? - you decide!) I choose her for my first paint test.
I used laquer model paint in a lot of colors - forest green, beige, brown - to mix the perfect shade of olive-green that is the girl's natural skin color in the cartoon. While I was happy with the color, the paint itself was inadequate - it often had to be re-applied to stick to the plastic surface, and it flakes off rather badly at the joints. As for the clothing, I now realize I should have probably used a scalpel to carve the outlines for it - anyway, I will probably go back to this someday and repaint one of the other ones proper.

Oh, I think you mean the TV series... No, these ladies are from "The New Adventures of Flash Gordon" - a show from 1978. Kinda as old as I am...
Here is the intro, you can see the girls in one scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mT3FeaO_sM
And check my gallery, I drew plenty of pics of them!

Both, actually. There was a TV-movie cartoon in 1978, followed by a TV series (that incorporated parts of the TV-movie, sans the WWII Germany plotline) that lasted 2 seasons. By Filmation - as you can expect, plenty of scene-reuse, much like MOTU. But frankly... I think it was the most faithful representation of Flash Gordon (as seen in the comics) to this day. Many wild adventures, fickle allies, sultry ladies, alien monsters, and of course the ever-scheming Ming. Sadly, Season 2 turned it into a standard Saturday morning toon... You can see the intro in my post above.
Oh yeah, I gotta draw Zizzy (the ditzy one) more often. And heh, no worries about the tail. We can pretend she lost it in battle and it will grow back eventually! (That's probably something Zizzy wouldn't know and would be all paniced about if she ever lost her tail...)
