I've been seeing a lot of journal and video comments already for this and all people talk about is Nostalgia Critic like they are in the same category.
Seriously, if you know his writing you'll know what I mean.

I never saw it.
In all honesty, I used to be a fan of NC. But I realized that any movies that I enjoyed were ruined if I watched anything from him. I find it's more
"Hello, I'm the Nostalgia Critic. I bash films so YOU don't have to."
Ebert had an art to his writing. Plus I believe the first critic to receive a Pulitzer Prize. (not sure)
In the end this is just my opinion.
Enjoy him if you like.
(Because I do agree 100% with his review of Star Wars Christmas)

I love the NC, but yes, there's no compairison between him and Ebert. I would watch the Coming Attractions with Siskel and Ebert every week when it was on, and they were always informative and entertaining. A generation of movie goers would wait each week to see which posters at the theater would have the "two thumbs up" posted on them, like the gold stamp of approval from the intellectual and the entertainer. It's sad to hear of his passing, but he will always have a place in critic history.
I'm not saying he wouldn't criticize either. He was a fair and strong opinion. Not to mention the man who coined the "Two Thumbs Up" phrase.
Just seeing a lot of people say him and NC are on the same page.
I'm not an NC hater. I find some of his stuff funny. Just I wouldn't put them both on the same level.

I actually saw a vid of the NC just recently on the matter of Ebert's death and it was quite a nice video making me as a non-US-citizen, wel aware of just how big Ebert really was~ I bet most people I tend to be around with only heard the name when he got the backlash from the videogame community. (Certainly not one of the brightest moves by the community, IMO)
At any rate, it is true that the critic bashes just about all the movies, but is just because that is what he enjoys doing~ :p I am not sure if I should keep defending it when it is all really a matter of personal taste and opinion, but I'd like to say that he did several commentary videos as well, highlighting some of the reviews and one thing I recall is: While he bashed all of Sonic the Hedgehog show, he did lateron int he commentary explain that he still enjoyed it back in the day, but that the overly critical person (hence parody reviewing) exaggerates on the negative qualities, as those are where the best worked-up-reactions are to be gotten.
In fairness, he ruined quite a few flicks for me as well, but I can understand that this is also in part due to the localization (non-English movies here on TV) and sometimes just a change in taste as a person grows. Hence, criticizing without or beyond the nostalgia~
And no, I have no clue why I'm writing this x3 I guess I was just bored.
So, sorry for the spam, but I agree with yas on some accounts~ :p
Oh, and as for what I should be writing:
funny comic, man x3 Love the expression in the last panel x3 <3 Very well done~^^
