Plaster PawPrint Casting
I've refined my technique a little bit, and used watercolors on this one instead of acrylic paints. I think it came out a lot better then the previous ones.
In this case, I made the cast from a pawprint in the dirt, then 'painted' over the dried cast with more plaster, smoothing out the bumps and pits and covering the dirt that was picked up during the casting.
I am a little wary of the second plaster layer flaking off over time and handling, but that's the nature of experimenting, I guess! :)
