Got a replacement pen for my notebook, so I broke my 4 year ban on drawing with several sketches; this being one of them. This has been my baby for decades now. Though not directly furry in nature, she does make appearances in my stories. She's one of the reasons I became an aero-engineer.

I like open middle plane designs, and the rudder fins on the inside of the wings is a very cool design. I can't figure out the shape of the wing attachments though, are those weapons or engines? They don't seem very aerodynamic on an otherwise very sleek plane.
Have you tried modeling it in 3d? Perhaps even some rapid prototyping in Secondlife?
I do like how the cockpit is all the way in the front, must be quite an experience while maneuvering, being that far forward of the gravity center, it also gives the plane a good sense of scale.
What is the darker grey thing that seems to be attached to the plane's center and comes from the lower left?
Also what is the shape beneath the plane visible through its open middle? Is that the engine?

The thing protruding from the middle is a docking arm.

There are many configurations. the object visible underneath the fuselage is commonly a heavy weapons pod-- the OSC (Oh Shit Cannon). It can also be reequipped as a higher burn engine; its like a mission centric attachment.

The two protrusions on the wings are weapon pods. The primary engines are grafted into the wing neat the rudders. She's not very sleek because she's not an intra-atmos fighter, but a tactical space assault craft. I do have several variants I'm modeling in 3d, including a atmospheric combat capable variant. It just takes a while.

Ah I hadn't seen http://super32x.com/archives/image2.....2/DSCN2385.jpg which is a more useful angle than even the picture you used as reference.
Quite a beautiful ship, I can see why you like it so much.
You say it's been an interest of yours for ten years? Whats it from? The website via web translation is humorously hard to read and unhelpful to the source of the plane.
Now that I know it's not your design, the next question isn't as applicable, but why is it so sleek if its strictly exo atmospheric? Is that to give it some semblance of control when landing in an atmosphere? Or is that even a capability on that model?

It's from an old series. Used to be in an anime in the 70's I believe. Then it got made into games for the Sega CD and early systems. Recently ported to the PS2 then another game created for the 360--that one just screwed it all up. '
I been in love with this baby for 16+ years now. She's and all around vehicle. Can drop into the atmosphere for close fire air support and still perform well; but she shines in space. Some say the design is too stocky, too bulky. But I think of it like the A-10 of space fighters: beautiful in its own right.
