This is my dog. Axel Oxenstierna. Named for the Swedish Lord Chancellor who was the architect of their hegemony in Northern Europe, and who was thwarted quite nastily by Queen Christina. Why is he named for such a figure? Because there is, and this is fact, no cooler name in all the universe.
He's... kind of mental, though. Here he is, rapt in dog-love for my pants, which he has decided Must Be His, crowned with a piece of chewed-upon rawhide.
Hmm. Dogboys with weird names in other men's pants with bones on their head. Sounds like a pretty good weekend to me.
Note the hot flash of naked Beachfox flesh in the lower left hand corner. Have you ever seen such a neato toe?

He's a mutt, actually; half german shepherd, half malamute. I was sitting on a waiting list for stupid expensive GSD pups, and one of the folks I was talking to, who otherwise was a pretty responsible breeder pinged me to the effect that he had some pups that.. weren't quite right. Accidents happen, and all. So he's got sweet shepherd lines, and sweet malamute lines, and all that hybrid vigor stuff going. It's just a bit of a drag. I'm pretty convinced he's smarter than I am.
Yeah, as Fox_Metro points out, that looks a LOT like a Belgian Tervuren. But my breeder friend actually says no, the broken colors seem to suggest that instead it is a "fluffy" German Shepherd, a disqualifying fault in the show ring. They just come out some times, or like your friend told you, "Accidents happen!"
One of my aunts had a Tervuren, and he had one of those ... personalities. I think that eventually they had to farm him out to someone who was training tracking dogs, because he wasn't happy without a full time occupation. They're really neat, though, with the masking and stuff.
*Laughs* Funny that...I've been doing just that with my dog! I've collected one bucket-worth of fuzz, and I'm still trying to get the hang of spinning the stuff (at least I have a spinning wheel as opposed to a drop spindle). So far, I've got a small ball of Shiba yarn (maybe 10 yards?)...
