This is as simple as it gets for fighting games.
ASD, left, down, right to control.

It's two player, there's no CPU.
I made this so that I could make a video or something explaining how simple it is to code using Stencyl ( www.stencyl.com ) - there's really no math or language to learn so it's pretty neat, and since it makes flash games you don't need to worry about it not working on Macs or PCs.
This is the coding but it probably won't do any good until I go through and explain it all:

Anyway, if I made a real boxing game, it'd be very difficult and complex, especially when it comes to making sure it's bug proof, and that smashing buttons wouldn't ruin the game. I'm gonna go back to working on my original game but I did want to do this simple one for a bit! Sorry it's not more fun or exciting, it was done in about two weeks?

Oh, no, it was kinda what I wanted!
I didn't really like that you could walk up to each other, punch four times, and then the game'd be over in a second. Instead I hoped it'd be a little more intense (ideally with 2 player) if it was about who could land a hit on the other first. Kind of like with actual boxing, where if you're open at the wrong time you'll just get clobbered and then both people have to back up and break for a bit.
It's odd but it's kinda what I had in mind since there's no blocking or anything else in here.

Ah, a fair point. I suppose it would involve more intense coding (and maybe a more powerful though equally complex program) to make it so you can land more punches before there's a KO. *shrugs* Though I can see what you're saying about making it more intense. I just can't get the full experience because who the hell would I play with? =P Not like I ask my family to join me while I'm going around FA. That'd get awkward really fast.
Mmm, another thing: would it be possible to have a short victory animation of the winner standing over the loser's prone form? Or is that gonna take a lot more work? I'd kinda like to see it, but I leave it up to you to decide if it's worth the extra effort or not.

I know when I put this out on IB and DA I'm gonna take the restarting thing out and see if that works better. I coded that before I was able to code the whole 'preventing people from getting beaten up too quickly' thing, maybe in reverse order it wouldn't have even come up!
I was so fed up workin' on this and really didn't want to do anything more to it - but maybe in a few months I'll be less bothered with it and try out some more things and make it nicer and maybe attempt a CPU. At least in the other boxing game I'm workin' on I plan to put in a better kinda finishing thing than this. (:
