Sad thing is only one in ten suicide attempts are successful. That's including a bullet to the head, so we know some other demographic has to be screwing up the statistic... I blame wrist slitters...

Yeah - and what skews the statistics a little more still is, just because somebody is suicidal, it doesn't mean they actually, wholeheartedly want their attempt to succeed... it's not neccessarily just an attention-getting ploy as a lot of people seem to think, but there's a lot more hesitation and fear than many of them would care to admit. Hence the popularity of unreliable methods, I think.

Another interesting statistic, 3/4 successful suicides are males, 2/3 unsuccessful suicides are female, most successful male suicides are males over 85, and most successful female suicides are in the 15-20 range.

I want to work for the United States Census Bureau... To be paid to make vicious generalizations...
