This is the first time I've ever really put an effort towards growing something, so any critique is welcome. FOR EXAMPLE, do I need to train my tomato plants at all? My first two plants (on the right) are super bushy, but the plants a friend of mine just bought me (on the left) are one vine going straight up. Did I mess up with my first plants? Are my cages OK? Do I need to stake AND cage them? Wah I dunno what to do ;_;

On the right is carrots and the left is PEAS! They are bush peas, the package said, so I don't need to stake them right? I just fertilized everything with rabbit poop.

I grew up in Virginia which has a super dense clay soil, so I never tried growing anything. I live in the central valley in California, which is chock full of farms and orchards. Since I plan on living here for many more years, I thought I'd take advantage of this rad soil surrounding me.
