Excellent question! Sorta a long story tho:
When I first joined the fandom, my first fursona was an otter. But, upon surveying other characters, I found a complete lack of otters. So, not wanting to be outlandish or anything, I changed my sona to a fox, and have been one over since! And I'd much rather be an otter, looks a lot more fun!

It was the same for meeeee, I never understood it. I used to fantasize about it as young as kindergarten or earlier... any cartoons with blatant vore were immediate obsessions for me. I thought I was just really weird and didn't even know it was a fetish shared by others until I was 15 or 16.
