Grammar, Technology, and the World Today
Leo the Patriotic Lion's infamous rant on how he thinks technology is enslaving the world's people who let it enslave them, as well as the bad effects texting has had on grammar.

While I wouldn't support a law banning it, I really dislike the way everyone talks like an idiot these days, and I do largely blame the internet for it, though I wouldn't call it a reason to be rid of it. I use slang here and there, especially in regular conversation, but if I'm trying to make a cogent argument or point, especially in writing, I make sure to write it as intelligently as possible. Unless slang or swearing can be used to make or stress a point.
Your dislike of shorthand and "like" on the other hand seems a bit strict, but to each his own.

To each his own indeed. In the continuity of the fictional city I write about, the law banning text slang has been repealed, partially due to death threats aimed at the mayor, and partially because, in a sense, it was Prohibition all over again.
While it shouldn't set me off the way it does, I've been seeing (even in college) more cases of people writing in the same way they talk, and their grades are suffering. Also, bear in mind what I said on the "get to know me meme" when it comes to some of my rants, such as this one.

Also, I changed my mind; you're unblocked now. You're the one person that challenges what I write, but you're wrong about my parents (that's why I hid the one comment). They are not dictorial, even if what I write makes them out to be. They're just trying to protect me; most of it is my fault, and the autism.
That comment of mine was based on the fact that you frequently tell me that nearly all of your thoughts and opinions were passed onto you from them, also along with the fact that you told me they disapprove of you even being on Furaffinity or similar sites. The "just trying to protect them" excuse is often used by people with controlling behavior. That's why I said it. It doesn't sound like they respect your right to have your own thoughts or opinions, which I feel is also reflected in your stories based on the people you vilify (IE, anybody who disagrees with religious or conservative ideals).
It's actually very common in households such as the way you describe yours. I'm not trying to make assumptions, I'm just going by what you tell me.

Then I must have lied to you in some areas and I didn't realize it. While they don't approve of it, they are used to it, because they realize I am putting a hobby of mine (writing) to good use, and I want to write for a living (although just picture books and things like that there).
Some beliefs I present are actually my own; the most notable one is about the marching band being more important than the football team but they never get enough respect (if any). They work their butts off just as the football team does, but do they get any respect? No, they don't. (Not from what I've seen, anyway). Too many people have this mentality that they're going to be sports stars, even if the NCAA is honest when they say, "Just about all of us will go pro in something other than sports."

Well I'm certain that the marching band thing is all you, I more mean the social, political, and religious opinions. It's also why you don't win many arguments. They aren't based on research you've done yourself, they're based on what somebody else told you, so when confronted about them you're unable to provide an argument. Admittedly, in my opinion no typical Conservative-based argument holds water and can easily be destroyed by very basic observation, but it's not that your arguments are weak, it's that you don't really have any to offer. Which is why I encourage you to look into things for yourself. Even if you don't change your mind on them (although if you could truly look at them independently I think you would on several issues because you're not a bad guy) you'd be better prepared to defend your stance on them.
Now do I think your parents are locking you in your bedroom and forcing you to read the Bible while they whip you when you slack off? No...not necessarily. But they sound extremely non-open to acceptance of ideals that don't match their own (again, based on things you've said to me). They sound hard to stand up to. And that makes me feel bad because I think you struggle with multiple personality facets that are probably frowned upon in your home. I don't know what they are, but I'm pretty sure they are there, I'm a pretty good judge of character.
There are some things I'd really love to ask you to go further into it, but I know you're deathly afraid of letting strangers in. Which is fair, all things considered.

I see. My mom and dad often discuss either their job situations or political views, and for some reason, it upsets me to hear it even though I must, so I try to fit myself into the conversation there instead of tune it out. And also, I am 23 and still living with Mom and Dad; I graduated college last December and am looking for a job now.
One thing I probably didn't tell you is that I am an auditory learner; I have to hear it out loud from a real individual. That's why when I had to do online classes in college, I suffered. It also explains how the autism helps ensure I can easily memorize things; as a result, I've repeated stuff they wouldn't expect me to repeat, but this was more common when I was a child.

See my parents are idiots so when they talk, I leave. Granted, we all share similar opinions on political and social matters (although my mother's somewhat racist sometimes) but still, it's important to make up your own mind on things.
And with regard to your usual thing about "past experiences..." it's human nature to base their views on bad experiences, all of us do it at some point. But before you judge a particular group of people, one thing you have to ask yourself is "how many of them DIDN'T do the thing that upsets me?" The number's usually a lot higher.

Indeed it is; it's just what happens when I only think about the ones that did do it. And my parents are NEVER racist; we believe all people should be respected regardless of skin color. It didn't stop me from wondering what a friend of mine wrote a paper about (though she didn't share any deep concent): which has the bigger number today? White racism towards blacks, or black racism towards whites? And what about Hispanics, Asians, or other races? Her paper strived to argue that there is only one real race we are part of: the human race.
The race issue in America is complicated to say the least. Thing about racism is, it comes in many different forms. It could be a severe as wearing a white hood and threatening to kill people, or it could be as subtle as not buying your daughter the black barbie doll. Granted it happens on all sides, there are plenty of blacks who are too judgmental towards whites, or Hispanics who hate blacks, and it goes on and on.
However, the racism demonstrated by racist whites seems to be the most influential in the country based on the decisions that get made around it. I've heard a lot of whites ask why people just assume they're racist, and as much as I agree that it's unfair to make the assumption sometimes I have to day "because...historically, y'all are so gosh-darned racist." That's something the GOP has been struggling with, they appear to be very racially insensitive (because most of them are) so they lose the favor of blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and whoever else. And there were tons and tons of people who voted against Obama because he was black. Of course, it's fair to say many blacks voted for him because he's black, but the black vote as always favored democrats anyway due to more minority-friendly policies. Look at all the people who assume the President's a Kenyan Muslim. Why, because his name sounds different than yours? Plus even if he were Muslim, we live in a country with freedom of religion so it shouldn't be a problem, our insistence on having Christian leaders shows how little progress we've made in some areas, but that's a debate for another time.
It's also much harder to gain national attention towards a missing minority child, but it's much easier to convince a jury of a minority's guilt.
Racism is very alive in well even in today's America.

Indeed it is, and you've touched on all sides of it. As it happens, I have no views on Obama because I generally don't pay attention to politics. I do know he's got the media on his side, and by that I am referring to all three networks: CBS, ABC, and NBC. CNN is probably on his side, too. Fox News claims to be the conservative side but they're probably going left anyway.
Are you kidding? Fox News has always been solidly on the right, it's funded by the right.
CNN is arguable but as a whole, the media isn't as liberal as people say it is. The reason conservatives are portrayed as the bad guys so much is because their policies only favor rich whites and religious bigotry. Or in other words, because to the majority of Americans, they are the bad guys. Republican policies, when put into simplest terms, always sound bad because they are, that's not the fault of the media. Of course I'm not denying that there are left-leaning media outlets, there certainly are but the idea that all of the media is liberal isn't accurate. The world as a whole gets more liberal as it goes on because conservative ideals are outdated, ineffectual, and very prejudice.

Then I am mistaken.
I thank you for assuring me that I am not like other conservatives. Yet sometimes, because of all the racism and bigotry infecting American today, I feel I will only be truly happy when I die and go to heaven (or hell, whichever it is). It should be heaven because I have trusted my heart to Jesus Christ and accepted him as my Savior and Lord.

America's getting less racist and judgmental. It just seems bad now because those who fear the change are putting forth their last ditch effort to avoid it.
You share many conservative ideals, but in terms of personality, no you're not like many other conservatives. Which is why I press you about it so much. The greed and hatred that's synonymous with ultra-conservatism isn't synonymous with you.
I'll just ignore the religious altogether.
