Map of the Kaiju Garu Shima, main setting of the Godzilla-girl fan-fiction series of the same name. I generalized it, so that the locale and its enviroments could be adjusted on the fly. I kept the most significant landmarks, which I will describe soon; the black dots represent a Jurassic Park style electric fence/forcefield used to keep the kaijumorphs away from the human settelments, which are represented by the broken lines. Pleae click image to increase the image size so that you can identify the landmarks...
Port Odo: The main human settelment, home to over 2000 residents. The dock and its ferry, the Cetus, is the only link to the outside world for the majority of the island's residents [it goes through the two little outcrops that rest halfway in and out of the black dots, and is a checkpoint, making sure no one unauthorized can sneak onto or off of the island]
Odo Park: Kaiju Garu Shima's version of New York's Central Park, Odo Park provides a "safe", outdoor recreational park for the human inhabitants. Has plenty of grass, trees, and a decent beach.
Odo Farmlands: Kaiju Garu Shima is very isolated from the mainland, so most of its food and other amenities are made from the port's bay and the neighboring farmlands.
Lake Shio: The largest inland lake, connected to the sea by several esturaries. Also connected to an expansive swamp that lies just south of the farmlands.
L.A.B.: The Linguistical Analysis Base is the central research facility tasked with the study of the kaijumorph's sociology and biology. Most of the L.A.B.'s staff live in Port Odo, and make the long drive through the farmlands and down a long stretch of thankfully secure road every day to work.
Fort Daemon: A military garrison was stationed on the island after the kaijumorph breakout, and is completely isolated from the rest of the island's roads and towns; they use helicopters and gunships to move around the island when neccesary.
Moreuville: The second largest town, Moreuville is accessible only by a road and bridge that forks off from the route to the L.A.B.. Port Odo is more like a shopping district, while Moreuville is a more old fashioned community, with only about 800 residents.
Hardy Rock Village: Moreuville is like a city when compared to Hardy Rock Village, which is literally split down the middle by a river. Not much is known about the place, as it has remained isolated from the rest of the settled island. There are rumors of a "kaiju-girl" cult in this tiny community of less than a hundred...
G.E.O. and Dragon's Peak: The Geological Evaluation Observatory is a research outpost, set up to monitor the "dormant" volcano, Dragon's Peak [it pays to be cautious about these things, especially when hybrid kaijiu are involved]
Communion Lake: A large, almost mystical lake set in the middle of a small, forested valley. This is a place of peace, where the island's kaijumorph inhabitants put aside their differences and happily commune with nature; its essentially neutral territory, though no one knows why...
Old Containment Facility: The L.A.B.'s predecessor, the original facility was where the kaijumorphs were born, and where they were originally going to be quarantined in; the escape made this impossible, and the ruined base has been left abandoned ever since... well, mostly abandoned.
SpaceJira's Fortress: SpaceJira, the SpaceGodzilla kaijumorph, decided to create for herself a new home, and so she used her alien powers to build a crystaline base of operations just offshore. All attempts to get close or study this structure have ended disastrously.
The island itself is surrounded by a large electrical fence both below and above water, supported by an overhead forcefield for unauthorized flyers [also cuts down on uv radiation!], and toxic gas emmiters attuned to each kaijumorph's unique physiology. The system works mostly as a deterrent; it really just keeps the kaiju girls in when their just wondering out into the ocean, but if they really want to get out there's not much the barriers can do.
I'm rethinking the actual location of the island; it has to be out in the ocean, but close to an established city. I'll let you know when I think of the locale... unless any of you would like to provide suggestions?
