This.... was a pic I wish I hadn't had to abandon. A while back I was attempting to do a small comic project based on a dream I had.
The bases of the story was that the love of a vampire prince many years ago was murdered on the night of their wedding. In his sorrow, he brought about a curse that banished all vampires from the light, hence why vampires can not be in sunlight. Jump to hundreds of years later, and the vampires love is re-incarnated into a mortal form. She is discovered by servants of the prince and is brought immediately to his private estate where he lives still. He immediately falls in love with the girl, but doesn't recognize her as his lost love, and in fact had been slowly suppressing her memory to the point where he had forgotten that he had been waiting for her to return. After declaring that the girl would be his new wife and starting preparations to marry her... he THEN has to set about trying to impress and woo her, so that she would AGREE to his marriage declaration. Most of the comic then after would be a humorous telling of his many failed attempts at trying to impress her, often resulting in him making a mess of things due to his seemingly childish vanity and naivety.
AND SO WE COME TO THIS PICTURE, sorry, got a little side tracked there.
This picture was actually meant to be both the cover and the key part to the story. It was an old painting the prince would keep locked away in a room of his palace, a painting of his original love and was going to be his gift to her at their wedding. After she had died, the memories of her proved too painful for him to bare, so he locked them away in the painting so they would not always burden him. Over the years of his eternal life, the painting began to tarnish and became so covered in dirt that it was no longer distinguishable, covering the memories with it. When the reincarnated love finds the painting in the palace, she starts to spend her free time cleaning it. As she does, flashes of her original life begin to return to her. It isn't until the painting is fully restored does her realization finally hit and she suddenly fully remembers her love for the prince.
There was a lot more I was going to work into the story, such as how vampires became to be what we see today (EXCEPT THE SPARKLES) and was even going to work in other mythical elements, such as werewolves, kelpie, and even the fountain of youth. Eventually I was even going to work in the loves past murder and a whole political wedding subplot.
It was really intended to be an interesting story and it rather saddens me to have to abandon it, but it just isn't the right time for me to pursue this kind of project.
This picture... god I wish I could finish it, but the program I had used for it is no longer available to me. It was not just meant to be the painting in the story, but it would have been the cover for each chapter. Starting at its most dirty, indistinguishable form, each chapter would have shown a different stage of its restoration until it finally was fully revealed.
