Shock Dragoon's Mission

He was built by one of the mechanical engineers, and the computer analysts made sure that the newest Reploid was free from becoming Mavericks like what happened to recent Maverick Hunters before. Also, they made sure that the virus-protection was fully functional. When they finally installed the programs and memory chips inside the subject, they named him, “Shock Dragoon”, after the Maverick Hunter 14th Unit, identified Magma Dragoon—who was used in training sessions. Shock was because the blueprint illustrated the electricity-armed defense systems. The program said that he should be part-technician/programmer/engineer and part-hunter. It was accepted, so they finished the project.

Shock Dragoon woke up from the engineering bay. He walked about to learn the basic ways of a human being and other Reploids, but the unknown creator put him into testing chamber where he was trained throughout the sessions. On voice-over speaker, Alia instructed him the various ways of the Maverick Hunters. She made challenging tips that the dragoon should accomplish. To upgrade the newest Reploid, she gave him a metallic stick, which was a laser sword called “D-Saber”

Shock was able to climb on walls, to rocket up the spiked walls that hurt him, to perform long jump above the spiked floor using boosters, to drive on hanging wires, and to attack the minor guards using yellow lightning powers and sword techniques.

He met Magma Dragoon on the final chamber, and he was assigned to destroy him. But, through his different functions in the programmed software, he recognized the similarity of a hardware: the dragon head, the arms, the spikes, the wings and legs and the eyes.

“I cannot defeat my counterpart, Alia!” Warned Shock, “Do you want me to destroy him and let other engineers repair him repeatedly? It is pathetic to use this Maverick Hunter as a main target in the training course all over again!”

Upon hearing this, Alia expressed her worries and misery at the “learned” subject. She decided to let him hurt Magma instead of exploding him into pieces—that X and Zero did before. It was not what the Maverick Hunters and instructors do, but only Shock Dragoon has freedom to give chances to others. Resuming the training course, Shock put Magma down without slicing him using his D-saber, which was dangerous to use in battles. When he left the semi-successful course, Magma was fine, and there was an aid to replenish him—that was an organic young red dragon Targon from the strange portal.

Shock was given a home in the city, where he rest for a moment. He had computer and communications station, repairing and parts bay, recharge room and a bedroom. But he was so alone, which made him feel sad being a single hunter. Therefore, he planned to create another Reploid, but smaller version yet because his program had not been updated to make bigger robots. He designed a blueprint, whose architectural schematic was drawn a green lizard with wing arms. Using his intermediate mechanical skills and advanced programming skills, he used the repairing bay. He assembled few manufactured parts with some modifications, permanent dry cells, memory chip which he had computerized the ways of a Reploid with free will for few weeks, microprocessor for fast calculations, speakers and microphones for speaking and listening, weapon systems like laser and lightning, and very sensitive camera and video card that the robot can “see vividly”. He also made other modifications for his new partner, the flight. He assembled blade wings that he designed the physical weapon like a knife and jet engines. When he finished his first Reploid, he noticed that a small robot moved, flew and attacked with lasers. It was a minor flaw, so he spent many days teaching and updating him with different versions that missed his significance. He named him, “Laserblade” since the smaller robot has laser arms and blade wings.

On a day after Laserblade was trained completely, Shock Dragoon’s mechanical work improved and he made profit out of repairing stuff, correcting bugs and sell parts to other Reploids. He built his own ship shaped like a dragon, with the assistance from paid construction workers in the space hangar. He named his ship, “Draco-428”.

Shock Dragoon was called from the communication systems. From the recipient, his first assignment was that theeight Mavericksattack in various places on Earth:

1) “Slash Velociraptor” conquered the weapons factory on Canada to obtain more offensive strength.
2) “Cyber Crane” hacked satellites controlled by a station on France to disrupt the communications throughout the world.
3) “Plague Mosquito” stole oil and gaseoline from refineries of Middle East.
4) “Sonic the Horned Toad” haunted the underground facility of CIA around USA to steal secret weapons.
5) “Acidic Serpent” shut down the product manufacturing factories on South Korea, which cause local panic due to economic downfall.
6) “SkyRocket Raccoon” and “SubTorpedo BlueJay” captured the reploid army settled on Mexico under their orders.
7) “Ravenous Sparker” activated the weather control stations on Taiwan to attract tropical typhoon track on Southeast Asia.
8) “Freeze Swordfish” wished widespread blizzard with extreme climate change over Brazil.

Shock Dragoon and Laserblade acknowledged the missions. He defeated them with their arms, acquired their weapons and weaknesses, and restored the places from disturbance.

However, he felt the disturbance on his memory systems: the ravenous nanobot caused his few of parts disintegrated. The engineers captured him and put him into the isolation chamber to prevent the nanobot from spreading on another reploid. Few days later, Alia received a video call, whose recipient information was never to be revealed. She answered the message: It was Fin-X and Jk-Z, the creator of the nanobots as they find its identity.

Fin-X , the humanoid Peploid with white helmet, green mechanical backpack and blue armor, intended the destruction of reploid race using the fatal nanobots which he named “Disintegrators”. They are so dark and tiny that even a typical weapon cannot disable their forces. The headquartered were baffled, but they still kept Shock locked up. Jk-Z, the yellow pug-designed dog whose arms are stretched and can transform into different shape, announced that they have twenty-four hours left before widespread disintegration.

Remaining hopeless, Shock Dragoon was sad that he was used, too, in the missions to destroy remaining Mavericks. But he did the unexpected release of nanobots installed on eight of the Mavericks. Laserblade, unknown to other Maverick Hunters, released him secretly, but the guards and patrols prevent him from escape—knowing mistakenly that Shock was turned into Maverick and the little winged lizard accomplice him. Passing through the headquarters and escaping the isolation chamber, he also destroyed the giant robot guardian guarding the exit gate, using his special weapons that he had obtained. Before going into the secret mission, he repaired himself which his part was pulverized into dust.

Shock Dragoon believed that only one of the Mavericks had a memory chip with hidden location of Fin-X and Jk-Z’s base. He and Laserblade restored Slash Velociraptor, but Slash was into pieces before non-functional in several seconds. He found that the raptor was Shock Dragoon’s brother as Slash explained—same creator, same behavior and function, and same spikes until he was captured by Fin-X and plagued with nanobots. Shock received a first clue. Slash told that the hidden base was on the Moon. Thanking him, Shock and Laserblade proceeded to find their spaceship, Draco-428.

Upon approaching at the space hangar, they discovered that the spaceport was dominated by Jk-Z and his minions. They pursue along the way until they find their ship. But, Jk-Z interrupted their venture. The enemy stretched his arms and attack with agility and plasma weapons from claws. Receiving few damages, Shock and Laserblade finished him, but Jk-Z escaped with teleportation device where he will be fixed by his partner, Fin-X.

Shock utilized the working Draco-428 while Laserblade helped him warn for damages on the system. He launched the ship to the sky, escaped the atmosphere, entered the exosphere, and moved toward the dark, airless and low-pressured region. They landed slowly at the other side of the moon to be stealth from observers. But their signal had received from the hidden base, so they were conquered by large number of restless Mavericks. The two heroes were able to pursue the fight and crossfire. So they have to destruct the unfamiliar and giant reploids.

“Finally, our darkest hour,” told Shock.

In the heart of the hidden lunar base, the two stood in the darkness. The duplicated eight Mavericks and two leaders, Fin-X and Jk-Z, were waiting for their invasion. Fin-X had five minutes left before the release of Disintegrators that would wipe out the Reploid race, but would not harm human beings on Earth. The surrounding Mavericks tried to finish him as pile up. Shock Dragoon and Laserblade felt that they were defeated and the final mission was a failure. Until the Maverick Hunters intervene the clash. X, Zero, Magma Dragoon, and Targon stunned them into unconscious.

Restored, Shock Dragoon pursued the chase at Fin-X, but Fin-X used his red sword, destroying his boosters—thus he cannot jump higher and longer. Shock found Laserblade locked in the hallway where Jk-Z guarded against the lizard. Shock and Laserblade were weakened in the fight. One minute left before the disintegration, but he discovered the special giga attack from his memories that attempt to calculate the best move. Shock Dragoon was floated up with ultimate powers of yellow electricity, and the lightning blew him into pieces. Laserblade, same as his creator, had an extremely powerful giga slash to slice Jk-Z into half. The heroes felt victorious, and the eight Mavericks turned back into true Reploid selves, peacefully.

The countdown reached its end. The enormous swarm of nanobots were released into space and floated toward Earth. It was large enough to cover the planet into its final time. The heroes expected hopelessly the end of the world, so they slammed in distress on the floor. However, there was a solution: Eight reploids, whose control were freed from Fin-X and Jk-Z, stepped at him. Slash Velociraptor, the leader of the group, told that only their powers combined to match the Disintegrators, and Shock Dragoon and Laserblade’s acquired weapons were altogether. He led the team back to Draco-428. He left the others behind, and Magma riding away the ship to clear off from the space volume.

The darkest hour had reached. Shock Dragoon launched his ship faster and stopped before the incoming nanobots. The ten reploids, launched with built-in space boosters, stepped at the swarm. Eight ex-Mavericks unleashed their full potentialities to be combined to Shock and Laserblade, and, while they were assisting the both, Shock and Laserblade created a huge ball of amplified electricity (same as they did to their final adversaries). Impact occured, it destroyed all Disintegrators with a single big bang. It caused the Reploids to be thrown off in an ultimate force. They entered the Earth’s atmosphere, and crash landed on the deserted area. The ten robots, severely damaged, passed out and shut down.

Several months later, while the affected cities were under reconstruction, Shock Dragoon and Laserblade woke up on the repairing ward in the headquarters, the engineers, Maverick Hunters and felt glad of their full-functional. They applauded about the news that the world recognized their deliverance. They stepped out of the headquarters, and noticed the horde of Reploids and humans happily cheered at them. Shock and Laserblade felt satisfied in honor.

He also found his eight former enemies bowed with appreciation for freeing them from the antagonist’s control. After the ceremony, Shock Dragoon and Laserblade continued their work as mechanical engineers, and also their new missions as Maverick Hunters.
