So a while ago I randomly looked up mythical creatures from Japanese folklore and discovered the bakeneko, or monster cat. According to what I've read, a bakeneko is what you get when your cat's tail gets too long. Sometimes, the tail splits in two and you get a nekomata. If you've ever seen a Beckoning Cat, they're apparently a kind of bakeneko.
Anyway, I loved the idea of it, particularly since my own cats can be little monsters on occasion. Following the lead of the amazing
missmonster and
LaffingDemon and their wonderful takes on things like goblins, golems and bakus, I came up with this concept. I'm planning for him to be fairly tall when he's finished, at least a foot and a bit. And the colours may change between now and then.
Yes, I called him Sake. What of it?
