tarpaw's story "Troubles for Two", featuring my fursona.
One day when Tarpaw the husky was walking through the woods, he spied a blue tail sticking out of the bushes. “Hmm,” he said to himself, “I be that’s Marillon.” With a sly grin, he crept up as quietly as he could on the blue wolf, then pounced.
“Gotcha...hey?!” he yelled, crashing into a fake tail and falling through the bush, his front paws landing in a tar pit in a clearing. Just then he heard a laughter, and turning around, saw Marillon coming down the hill with a big sheepish grin on his face.
“Hey Tarpaw, I fooled ya!” he said with a snicker.
With a slurpy squelch, the black and white husky pulled his front paws out of the tar, shaking them. “I see you found a tar pit, these are really rare.”
“Yeah, this friend of mine, Raven showed me a couple months ago, it super warm, thick and sloppy...but also shallow enough that you can pull yourself out after sinking in it.”
As a demonstration, the blue wolf, leapt right into the black bubbling pool, instantly sinking to his knees. He tried pulling a paw out, freeing it at the cost of driving his other three paws deeper.
“Come on in Tarpaw, I thought this was what you were named for?”
“Oh, alright.” Tarpaw replied, trying to hide his excitement. The husky approached the tar, and gently slid his already sticky forepaws into the goop, feeling the thick warm grip of the pit. Satisfied, he slipped his hind legs in as well, squishing his legs about until he was firmly stuck up to his knees, the tar making a stark contrast to his furry white legs and underbelly.
Marillon started doing the same thing, pumping his legs in the tar, forcing himself deeper and deeper as the black sludge sucked at their feet.
Soon, both of the canines were sunk up to there bellies in the tar, the thick warm pitch giving no yield to their efforts to extract themselves.
“Ugh,” tarpaw moaned, “I can’t even move my legs anymore, this tar is so thicks...and I’m almost sweating...I’ve never experienced such a warm tar pit.” he said between pants.
Marillon replied in kind. “I know what you mean, I can’t move anymore.”
Tarpaw struggled more, only managing to sink down to his chest. “I thought you said...that this was...easy to get out...of?” the husky said between breaths, the hot tar pressing in on him, though he was quite used to the sensation now, after wallowing though several mud and tar pits throughout his life.
The two continued to sink deeper, neither able to so much as wiggle the tails, let alone free themselves. Both of them began to panic as the tar crept up to their necks, felling that they might have chosen the wrong tar pit, not the one Raven had sent Marillon to. The thick black goop slowly crept up to their muzzles, both tarpaw and Marillon taking a final desperate breath before the tar finally pooled over them, swallowing them up into the black depths of the earth.
