So, to be honest, I always feel just a teensie bit guilty when I take on such large projects that my updates on finished work have to come months apart.
To fix this, I've decided to start uploading work in progress shots. They might not be as "pretty" or "cool" as my finished work, but it's better than nothing right?
So here we have the head of a Citipati osmolskea chick/adolescent marionette I've been building. First I had to sculpt all the individual parts (body, each part of the legs and feet, and head) then paint and seal them. Now that's done, all I have to do is finish rounding off the joints so they are flush together, then I can assemble it all and call my job done!
But what I want to show off right now are the eyes.
This is the first time I've really pulled off the "follow-me eye" look. From absolutely every angle (even directly in front or behind the head) the eyes *always* look like they're looking directly at the viewer! And it's a personal experience, too - multiple people could be looking at the head, and all of them will perceive the eyes to be staring at them!
The eyes have already given this project so much life, and I can't wait to finish it and take it with me out on the town to play with the people around me!
Also in this shot you can see how absolutely chaotic and cluttered my desk gets as I'm working on projects with deadlines. This mess will continue to expand until it envelopes my entire basement except for one single foot-trail to lead us out of the basement and to the bed room. I APOLOGIZE FOR NOTHING :I
