Also, if you ever do walk down Newbury street, there is a rather fancy clothing store (I cant recall the name unfortunately) that has two FULL windows of old sewing machines - this would be a Singer obviously, my bet would be it was made around the 30's, maybe 40's :B

Yeah that's what my mother had. We removed the machine and put it one a book shelf. Then one day I was moving it and the machine fell off. That cast iron wheel in the back snapped clean off. Every once in a while you can find these at a thrift store if they don't know what it is you can get them for really cheap

In fact, short of being a top of the line machine that I know won't break on me for going through too much material or just too much use, I will buy a old used machine any day. in fact I did! not -that- old but the one I had in the US was a awesome oldie and the one I have now is a awesome oldie. Tanks. I forgot how heavy it was until I went to lift it the other day. good thing I'm a strong one :)
