I saw the scheduled events when a friend who went to FC came by to show me what he had picked up. There were quite a few writing panels, from the look of it. Did you go to many of them? This looked pretty good.

I did go to several. The Bad Dog's boot camp series was a thinly veiled pitch-they-books type author driven panels, forgivable because they did try to help us unpublished types refine our edge... But more than once did the speakers make referances to struggles or plotpoints or such in books they were trying to sell and at least once for one that has not yet been released.

The Oddly named writting panel -- for which this was written -- was a less organized affair... I'll reserve judgement for a far more fitting time though.

It's beautiful honey. Poignant and vivid. I really like it a lot and I hope you haven't given up writing. I know your life's busy, but don't let your writing time slip away completely.

Impressive I must say. Short but to the point, painting a rather vivid picture of the scene that unfolds. I almost feel like there should be more backstory to tell about this samurai we follow through the narrative.

I have thought about adding more content to this, but never have.

There is a reason the Samurai is never named, the story isn't about the Samurai's life but his honor and honorable death. Its a more Far-East approach to story and drama.

The other elements of the story would be based elsewhere, telling about the Mongol raiders and their initial victories and the Shogun awakening his country to fight and repel the invasion.
