This faithful worshiper of Pelor (and fairly handsome figure, if I do say so myself, which I do) is my current character in my group's Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 game.
Characters that I play in role-playing games are one of my more primary inspirations to actually start drawing. Ideas aren't that difficult to think up, but the grumption to actually put pencil to paper is harder to come by. Which is a shame, because I enjoy drawing and a finished picture always leaves me ecstatic.
Background's a bit bare, but personally I've always cared more for the figures in the picture. Just a quick... dungeon? I think it's a dungeon. A quick dungeon I cobbled together.
*Glances at the tabard that he is proud of*
Maybe I should draw clothes more often on my people. Just gotta get practice, ya' know?
Rar the light!

Patience is a Virtue, so if you work at it...
As far as practiced talent goes, why not start now? Years ago when I began, I had images I wanted to draw but no skill. In my spare time, occasionally, I drew a few things that I liked. They're craptastic and took ages to draw, but eventually, one piece of anatomy/perspective at a time, I got better... and still have a long ways to go!
But don't think art is the only creative drive out there. You yourself write a lot, it seems. Be proud of what you can do. As long as you keep working on it and enjoy what you're doing, things are spiffing great, ya' know?
So decide now if a few years/decades of working at art is interesting enough to keep your attention and fun enough to try. Hey, it wouldn't hurt any to just take a lined piece of paper and start sketching something. Maybe find an online artsite of Xenogears or something and sketch out some copies of the robots. Or maybe draw a scene from the game, complete with health bars and everything.
Just whatever makes ya' happy. ^_^

Redoing or proof-reading?
For redoing, that's fine. Half the time anyways, the first impression is the best because it's got that spark of inspiration in it that only comes when you first sit down. It's also got the initial passion in it.
When you have to redo the work (such as, for example, if the file gets deleted) it's always a painful chore because you know that while you may make a paragraph or two better, you just KNOW that there's some things you're missing.
Personally, though, my experience in writing is slightly different. I don't mind editing my work in that fashion, becase I like getting things just SO and because I enjoy thinking things over, I'll come up with a clever idea or two that would beef up the story nicely. Or I'll need to remedy an awkward phrase. But I'm a pointed perfectionist (trying hard to change).
For proof-reading, though, it's understandable, just like some people don't enjoy video games or reading books. You have to sit down, pore over the thing, and do Mechanical/Technical writing, not Creative/Inspired writing. However, it does make the story easier to read in the end, and I think your stories could benefit from it. The absence of clarity on a few of your sentences (run on, etc.) made the story more child-like and it took continued reading to bring back the connection betwixt myself and it. Like watching a movie and having somebody next to you answer a cell-phone and start talking, ya' know?
But, first and foremost, remember that you yourself are the 1st audience, and you're writing for at least yourself. Sharing with others is just a bonus. Meaning, do what you enjoy, now what others tell you is right or proper.
And I still enjoyed your work, nonetheless.

I get irritated at redoing, I've lost one story and I know I can't re-write it with nearly the same emotional impact.
I don't like proof-reading, I'll spell check, but the initial jist of what I want written is there already. I still fix typos when I can though.
I know, I'm really bad about run-on sentences, but I can't seem to find good points to stop my sentences and start another. I also know I don't indent, nor do I create a new paragraph for every new line of speaking(I feel that is a -terrible- waste of page space, and can't bring myself to do it, OBC and Perfectionistic mindsets clashing, OBC wins)
I write mainly for me, only rarely do I take ideas and write them, because I can't write other peoples characters. I can write my 'idea' of the character, and if it's off, or if the character would do something different then what i wrote, I get irritated at myself.
With my ronso stories, I feel that's what Kimahri would do, but it's only my narrow opinion, I also see Kimahri as a monogamously minded individual(and have a RP character who is associated with Kima, and believes whole heartedly that Kima preaches monogamy ^^)
o_o wow, I talk too much, lol.
We could talk on Aim, or Yim sometime, if you want.
