This was yet another rescue. I was contacted by my coworkers at work a few days ago. They told me a girl was there trying to find a home for her corn snake and mice and she wasn't asking anything for it. I figured - sure, why not. I'll take a look at it and if it's not one I want I have two friends who would take it.
Needless to say...this cutie isn't going anywhere. Most of you know I breed corn snakes and one of my favorite morphs are charcoals. THe pictures at first had screamed 'anery' or something to me but after inspecting further...No, I didn't get an anery, or a ghost, or even a granite (Bloodred anery)....What I got (this would have cost me quite a bit if I were to buy it) was a pewter. A pewter is a charcoal bloodred - two genes that I have been working on getting.
Needless to say I am happy beyond happy. I am not sure on the sex yet but the tail shows male but due to its size I can't pop him/her. I have to wait until I can get some vasoline and probe the poor thing.
This little one is very laid back and calm..and despite being in a bad shed (he now has a good sized bowl to soak in...and now he's drinking like no tomorrow)...he's settling in really well. He's very curious and likes to play peek-a-boo.
I don't care if this guy is male or female (though it would be awesome if it's female..since I have a pair of charcoals at home (Well charcoal mysteries) and a charcoal motley male who is ready to breed)..s/he is staying with me.
For now the name is "Lurkin" until I figure out if he is a she or vice versa. Anyways, I'm in love with my pewter snakie. :D
Also, in addition to being given this guy - I was given five mice and three cages - one cage for the snake and two for the mice. The mice'll be eventually introduced to my colony at my parents. For now the snakie stays here with me and my fiancee's until he clears quarantine and is okay to put into the reptile room.
Excited kitty is excited. I got myself a pewter and a bunch of all stuff...and it did not cost me money. Food is not an issue as I already have all that taken care of.
