Shi'ran's Sword - Draconistus

taala ... because yet again, she's awesome. :3
(also it seems FA hates transparent PNGs ... myeah. >.>)
Having gotten Shi'ran's general design and appearance down, I then decided I needed to get something designed that was more important - his weapon. It was difficult, because I had never really left many notes on it and had never specifically imagined what it looked like bar some minor details, so I'm very grateful to Taala for being patient with this and helping me work out a design that I like. I'm sure as time progresses little bits here and there will change - both myself and Taala admit that - but to have a definitive design of the sword now is really cool. X3

Shi'ran's sword is loosely based on a combination of a katana and a more generic greatsword, meaning this weapon would certainly need to be wielded in both hands by a human. Shi'ran generally has to use both, too, but in situations can use it with one hand. The sword is described as being cursed; the blue gem is a 'scepter' (a power core, in other words), and Shi'ran can tap into its energy to imbue the sword with magical properties. The two white gems are ornamental and serve no actual use. A keychain-like pendant hangs from the bottom, which is a trinket given to Shi'ran by his brother, Y'hiel, and serves as a memento of his deceased brother's memory.
Unlike a standard sword, the blade is made of a steel-like material known as 'dragonsbane', named due to its material ability to literally sap away the energy of nearby dragons. Whilst initially widespread in its use during the Great War of Shi'ran's world due to its ability to weaken dragons and for the sharper-than-steel edge it produced, its use has fallen in present days due to the discovery of dragonsbane also corrupting the minds of its wielders, causing them to eventually fall into a state of darkness and insanity given enough prolonged exposure to it.
The reason why Shi'ran bears such a weapon despite these shortcomings is simple: he is entirely unaffected by the effects the dragonsbane would normally have - both that of sapping his energy, and of twisting his mind. There are several rumours spread around as to how this is possible, but the truth behind it has yet to be seen.
