i didnt say that, and i dont hate fat people, why would i? i have no reason to. but i dont see why its "fat discrimination" and since the artist said its more difficult to remove, then dont add it in the first place :P

OH I thought you were saying don't ever add fat ever...like before or after. It's a little hard to tell that you meant the artist of the ref template just shouldn't add fat (and it should be left up to the one modifying it). Careful with wording. "therefor, never add it" just sounds snarky.

Very true. Besides, in a general reference, you're using it for color. You can always use others for body. I frequently use multiple refs, citing the strong suits of each.

Pretty much. It's way easier to paint over stuff than having to remove it, so it made more sense to do it like this. Plus of all the characters I've seen and drawn, most of a fairly standard athletic build similar to this.

I find the average body to be just perfect. Granted I don't mind hugging a chub with their clothes on(feels nice) but once the clothes come off it just feels nasty. I suppose everyone has their opinion to what looks sexy, but if you want to please the widest range of people it's best to go with average or slightly muscled.

Adobe has free, legal downloads for photoshop CS2 on their website ;)

Cs2 works very well. Only thing is that it's missing a few features that are in cs6. Also, it's free. I enjoy it muchly.

Here's how you do it in GIMP.
Make sure the picture is in RGB and not Grayscale
Make a white layer below the lineart
Then click on Color then Color to alpha.
Tada, alpha'd lineart.

"add color to a layer underneath".. yeah. That's where the hard part starts. =^.^=
I've needed three days to color my ref sheet, and I still think it looks rather crappy. Guess I need to get a "pro" to make me a better one some day.

Yeeeeah, colouring can be hard. Especially figuring out how markings wrap around the body can be challenging sometimes.

For some reason, I have a problem taking a picture and making it any layer other than the background layer... Would you happen to know why? Maybe cause it's Photoshop Elements?

I'm not sure about elements, but if you double click on the layer it should convert it to an editable layer (it does in my version). If you are having problems there is a link further up in the comments for a free version of CS2 :3

You shouldn't need to, and I usually use the brush tool. It just depends on what program you're using really.
