Yeah... let me set the scene... I was a a friend's grad party and I was taking pictures for the with my Nikon D40 DSLR camera. Everyone was taking a break from dancing (all hispanic parties have dancing XD) and I was wanting to chill from my seat and take pics from there for a few. I set my camera on the table and go to switch my lens to my 70mm - 300mm telephoto/macro lens. When I turn to grab my bag from the floor my camera strap catches on my knee... therefore propelling my camera off the table... and like with a slice of buttered bread land butter side down... the cam lands lens to the ground killing the inner workings of it and rendering the lens useless... Yeah, I was pissed... and I vented... and a planet died from the rage that flowed onto the paper. Uninhabited planet thankfully XD

I hear ya. Dropped my Canon 250mm telephoto not too long ago. Broke the focus ring, but the optics survived. I fabricated a new ring for it, so it wasn't too bad, but when they go, they really go, eh? Thankfully mine was an old lens from my FTb, so it was built like a goddamn brick. Big difference from the new plastic ones.
