The city was in flames. A dragon watched as the destruction ensued Soldiers from either opposing house cried out a cry for battle as they charged, blades at the ready. The dragon watched from the balcony and sighed, watching the chaos. He was about 6’ feet in height, well built in muscle, a black kimono and katana at his side. His outfit consisted of his kimono, his tabi, and he wore on said kimono, prayer beads, and ocean waves designs all over it in an elegant sort of fashion. He had a mane of white hair and red crimson eyes with matching black/navy blue scales. He heard his room door open with a loud bang, his servant appeared worriedly. “Young Lord, the enemies are trying to breach the castle, you should escape now!” the young otter said. The dragon gave a sigh. “Tatsuki...I know. I’m leaving now. If anything happens to the house...You know exactly where to find me.” He rumbled. at his age, he had a deep voice and a rather intimidating figure. He strided past the otter grabbing a cloak and pulling it on, and heading for the back gardens, to make his escape.
Meanwhile in the gardens, a young black and purple furred wolf sat on a stoney bench looking out at the pond a few ducks swam by as he looked at his reflection. He wore a black and red kimono with a floral style to it. He was 5’8 in height, but had some fat on him. He heard a rustling from the bushes as he got his katana ready. “Who’s there?” The dragon emerged through the bushes, covering the secret passage way with leaves once more. “Adrian... it happened again.” He grumbled, taking a seat next to him on the bench. the two embraced in a welcoming hug. “My home...Is about to burn...to the ground...” He started, but slowly broke down, the larger muscled male, hugging Adrian tight, tears littering the lupine’s shoulder. “There there my friend, I’m at least glad they did not get you this time. I’m here for you...” he said as he rubbed the dragon’s back, holding him close. “Come, you’ll stay the night and eat.” the wolf said cheerfully.”Adrian...Thank you...For these long years of loneliness..You’ve been there. Always...” Enishi rumbled, standing up and following the shorter lupine to his home. The two entered the main dining hall to see no one was home, the two took seats across each other as the wolf ordered food to be brought. he turned back to Enishi, “How did it start this time? What meaning could those bastards have?” The wolf said angrily, hating to see his friend in such pain. “They claim that we’ve stolen a trade caravan....Their best customers. We...We did no such thing... We...” the dragon was at a loss for words. “We didn’t!” He roared. He slammed the table with his fists in a furious frustration. He then leaned on his elbows, and placed his face in his hands, sighing irritably. “Adrian... What are we going to do?” The wolf sighed, he hadn’t a clue what to do. First thing first, cheer up his friend, then work on a solution. “First Enishi, we eat. You must be starving. Then we’ll come up with a plan to get back at those dogs and clear your family’s name. Where are your parents?” Enishi sighed again. “Their whereabouts are unknown...To me, the staff...And even my friends... I am at a loss...” He said digging in slowly to the rice and chicken bowl in front of him. Adrian stared into space, last he saw them they were leaving on holiday to the ocean side. He shook his head as he dug into his meal. He took his spare egg and gave it to the dragon. “Here, I know it’s your favorite.” he said smiling. The dragon smiled now, as he took it with a kind and quick ‘thank you’ cracking the shell, and placing it on a separate plate, using his magic to fire it up. It was scrambled and then, he chopped it up and then placed it in his rice, and chicken bowl, savoring the taste. Adran giggled as he watched the dragon play chief with his food, taking more bites out of his plate. “Hey, remember that time back in school when you did that during lunch, and everyone was offering money to you to do that for them?” Adrian said laughing. Enishi smiled wider now. “Remember it? I had to DEAL with it!” He chuckled as he kept going with the food. His mouth had a small amount of chicken hanging from it. “I’ve always enjoyed Cho’s cooking...” He purred, as he finished up. The wolf nodded as he swiped the chicken from Enishi’s mouth with his chopsticks. He ate it and chuckled.
“As do I. Thankful she’s still with us.” Enishi nodded. “Remember that one night where she caught us both in the pantry, looking for that sweet cake she made for a wedding?” He asked, trying not to burst out laughing.”And she spanked our hands with a wooden spoon for managing to cut a piece off...” Adrian said as he stifled a laugh. “Our hands couldn’t hold anything for 3 days!” Enishi laughed now. It was a kind, hearty sound that brought the wolf much comfort. “I’m glad...We still remember those years Adrian. It was so...Peaceful back then.” The wolf felt warmer inside seeing his friend happy. “Hey now, don’t say it like that, it makes us sound like old men!” Adrian said, now laughing happily. “At least you’re the younger one! Now I feel old!” Enishi rumbled playfully nudging the wolf. “Only by a year, now you make me sound like I’m still a child!” He replied nudging back. Enishi smirked, his red eyes twinkling. They were interrupted suddenly as family started coming home. “Damn...I’d best go my friend. I’ll see you later.” He rumbled hugging the wolf and rushing out. The wolf grabbed the dragon by his kimono and held him strong. He sat him back down and looked at him with a concerned look. “Your home burnt down, where would you sleep? Sorry Enishi, but you are staying here tonight.” The dragon couldn’t argue with Adrian’s reasoning. “Alright...I’ll stay, for one night...Then I must stay at my uncle’s home for the week. I’ll miss talking with you...” He sighed, standing up, and following the wolf to a guest room. “And you won’t miss talking to me, cause I’m escorting you there. I’ll sneak away so my parents don’t find out...” He whispered, chuckling to himself as they entered the room. The wolf brought out spare sleepwear for the dragon, only the leggings fit him as his muscles were exposed. Enishi smiled. “It’s alright. I’m used to this by now.” He purred, slipping into the guest bed. His eyes trailed over the wolf’s head. “Adrian...” He started but then stopped. “Oh nevermind...Good night friend.” The wolf tilted his head, but thought best to not pry.
He said a simple good night as he closed the door. He went to his own room to change, but found his mother waiting for him. “Oh, mother, what are you doing here?” he asked confusedly. Rin sighed, holding her son’s chin. “Adrian...Who is in that room there?” The wolfess asked him. “Enishi’s home was destroyed, I offered a close friend sanctuary here for the night. What was I to do, throw him away?” the wolf replied. Rin looked to the room and threw open the door. “Guards. I found him.” She said suddenly. Adrian looked absolutely confused. he turned back to Rin angrily, “What is this? What is going on mother!?” Rin growled, holding her son behind her. “Arrest him! Enishi Iroue...You are hereby charged with trespassing on Private Property and Breaking an entering! Take him...Away.” Rin ordered. The dragon suddenly...Was a log of wood? “Damn that scaled monster...His art saved him...” Find him! He must still be here on the grounds!” Rin ordered swiftly moving with her guards.Adrian pushed his mother away and growled at her. “What have you done...” he snarled, looking as if he was gonna kill. He went up into her face, nose to nose. “Answer me!” She returned to her calm state and said back in a calm, threatening manner. “That monster is not welcome here... now go to your chambers and go to bed, now son.”
