I never managed to dip into any of 'em beyond the first X3 I think they've got most of 'em on netflix, so I should make that a priority sometime.

It's been a while since I saw them, but IIRC, they had some flaws, but also some good ideas, and they had the three things that count: Pinhead, Pinhead, and more Pinhead :P Of course, like most franchises, they get harder to take seriously as the sequel number goes up. I mean, 4 is basically "HellRaiser...IIIIIIN SPAAAAACE", and unless you started in space, going there in a horror franchise pretty much blows all seriousness out the airlock (see Jason X, Leprechaun 4, etc).

Personally, I like the second one best, because it shows us the world the Cenobites inhabit and where Cenobites come from (adding some new Cenobites along the way), but your mileage may vary.

I recommend watching them with friends; that way, no matter what, you will have a good time.
