Words hurt.
Unlike injuries, sometimes the wounds left by these do not heal.

Words can cut deeper than an actual wound, and some people might not actually realize how deep their words can cut. Especially if the person is rather close to another and they say something hurtful.
Sometimes you can see the hurt on the person's face, but most of the time, they'll hide it and it'll just eat at them for the rest of their life.
Unseen wounds will scar, but that scar will remain-most likely-for the rest of their life, haunting them and damaging them and probably effecting a lot of decisions they make in the present and future.
Sometimes even jokes can do this, so be careful of what you say to someone.
If you know how this feels, instead of holding it in, why not talk to the person about it. If they know what they did and don't particularly care, just forget about the person and try to move on. If you can't, then come talk to us, or someone you know who will help you, because you are not alone.
