Gaiaen Odyssey--cast line-up
Hey everybody, sorry for the absence--I've been 'busy' playing Fire Emblem Awakening, and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 3D. Not to mention being sick this week, though I do feel better than I did at first;well enough to tackle an idea I had after beating PMD:Gates to Infinity.
Overall, I like the idea of Mystery Dungeon--wandering a randomly generated set of chambers and tunnels to locate the exit/head to the next floor.
Though, on my second run-through, it's started to feel a smidgeon mundane--I like it, but unless I play it in short bursts, it get's a bit cumbersome.
But what if--just what if, that there was a Mystery Dungeon hybridized with something like Sword of mana, or The Legend of Zelda?
Utilizing most basics from an MD type of game with Action RPG elements, like free movement, running, and even mild puzzle solving, ala the Zelda series.
As I thought about how I would personally handle an MD game, this came to mind--a fantasy-type setting with overworld sections to travel through, like towns, plains, even forests, but also have Labyrinths that, with ancient magic would try to cause any who travel through them to get lost--by changing their layout each time someone enters!
...I'm still fleshing out ideas in my head, but another one is that the main cast of eight(?)would have the ability to change jobs, like for example--Layna is an Archer by default, but by turning her into a Mage, she would be able to use Magic.
However, each skill would have a little bar in their statistics that would slowly fill the more the skill was used. If filled, this skill could be useable in other classes--even abilities that come with their original class should they be mastered.
Now, to introduce half of the playables, and describe them the best I can. ^ ^;
Saen Rylis:A young man of 17 years with a strong urge to join the Dawn Brigade, the local guild in his home-town.
With a strong sense of right and wrong, he wants to aid those in need to the best of his ability, and solve the mysteries of the Labyrinths of the world.
Like his Father, he's fairly good with swordplay, but enjoys trying new weapons as well.
Rayla Kraumburn:The princess of the Kingdom of Kraumburn, and an accomplished Mage of 16 years of age.
She sneaks out of the castle on a regular basis, to train her Magic with a local Scholar named Melvus, who researches the mysterious energy of the Labyrinths.
Keeping her heritage of the crown a secret, she travels with Saen to prevent a disaster foretold ages before...
Braden Forlauth:Once the proud general of King Krauburn's army, he has since gone into hiding after his old friend framed him for stealing from the sacred temple.
It was around this time he had received the Gaiaen crest in his eye, which would only bring more questions he couldn't answer, so to protect his wife and child, he hid himself away in the Mountains of Yore.
Layna Birdwell:An accomplished archer, and hawk-eye with a bit of an attitude. She is 23 years old, and protects her village with her band of archers.
Surprisingly physical for her rank, she'd love nothing more than to pound any fiends into the ground, but she can't take the same treatment herself too well.
She was abandoned as a child, and still has a bitterness towards any sort of lousy bum that comes through.
......Well, that proves I need to write this sort of stuff out, and mull it over--those profiles aren't exactly my best writing...sorry about that. < <;

Wow, thanks Atma--one thing I do when attempting a new style is study various styles based on what I want to do, then I sit down, make a draft, and shade it when finished.
...It actually takes me longer than it sounds though. < <;
But when you can do it, I'd love to see it. :3
